Author Showcase Feature with Book Excellence Award Winner Leslie Daniels

Book Title: Boundaries

How did you know you wanted to be an author? I never consciously desired to be an author. An author friend asked an interesting question about what motivates a person to write. Why do I write? Well I don’t write to make money, or become famous. That boat sailed away many years ago. LOL And since I don’t write fiction maybe my motivation is a bit different from those who do. I’m not sure, but I think that I write to answer questions. Sometimes they are ones that I need the answers to in order to understand the world around me. Sometimes I need to just express what I feel, have learned, surmise, or understand about an issue, societal problem, or solution.

What is your advice for aspiring authors? If you had to do it again, what would you have done differently? Write about what you know and if you don’t know research.Expanding your knowledge will ultimately make your writing more engaging to the reader and that is your ultimate aim.

Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I find I just know when I can write and when , if I tried, I would sit staring at a blank screen. I go with this gut feeling because otherwise I feel frustrated.

What message do you want readers to remember? Survivors are victims of trauma. They are strong and heroic and not alone. Society should not be afraid to read their stories because without exposure only the bad guys win…
