Author Showcase Feature with Book Excellence Award Finalist James E. Alston

Book Title: Churches Incorporated

How did you know you wanted to be an author? When I had a story to tell that would be lessons for readers to think about.

What is your advice for aspiring authors? If you had to do it again, what would you have done differently? Write and read everyday. Everyone has a story, or something to give that no one else can do or tell. The reason that people don’t complete their desire to publish their manuscript; is simply, lack of commitment.

Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I am rather unconventional. I might write for 8 hours on any given day, and the next day, not at all. I do read or write every day, or both. Before I start my manuscript, I do a detail outline. Readers can’t be fooled. Write from your heart, and not for financial gain.

What message do you want readers to remember?  A great book, is a book that will stop readers in their tracks. A great book will entertain us, and force us to think. A great book will take us places that we may not ever thought of going; physically or emotionally.
