Author Showcase Feature with Book Excellence Award Winner Joe Corso
Book Titles: Shootout in Cheyenne, The Time Traveler, The Starlight Club
How did you know you wanted to be an author? I wanted to help my grandchildren pay for their college education so I began writing at the age of 75.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? If you had to do it again, what would you have done differently? If you have a story to tell, start writing it. Don’t worry about how the story looks just as long as you get it written. After it’s completed you can begin to refine it. Then give it to a professional editor. Ernest Hemingway once said the “The first draft is pure shit.” He was correct.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices? When I get an idea for a book I don’t waste time I start writing right away. I try to write something every day
What message do you want readers to remember? If you have a story to tell then don’t put it off. Get started writing it immediately and don’t make excuses for why you can’t begin to write.
