Book Title: The Other Medicine That Really Works: How Energy Medicine Can Help You Heal in Body, Mind and Spirit

How did you know you wanted to be an author? I wanted to be an author since I was a child, but the road to getting there was a long one. I started writing when I was nine years old. I wrote mystery short stories to entertain my friends. As an adult I began keeping a consistent journal. This evolved into a memoir that I ultimately decided not to publish. I finally found my voice and true calling writing about my work, and published my first book in my 50s.

What is your advice for aspiring authors? If you had to do it again, what would you have done differently? My advice to aspiring writers is to silence the inner critic. There will be plenty of time later to edit your writing. It’s not the time to edit yourself AS you are writing! Let it flow and let it go. My second piece of advice is not to follow the advice of others! Certainly consider the advice of others, but ultimately follow your inner wisdom. We all have it. It’s just that the inner critic can get so loud your inner wisdom gets drowned out. Do what brings you inner peace so you can hear the voice of your soul.

Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I write about energy medicine and I use energy medicine when I’m writing! I diffuse essential oils, sip water with flower essences, listen to music with binaural beats to synchronize my brain waves, and have my bare feet on a grounding mat. If I get stuck, I take a walk outside with my dogs and usually the words I’m looking for will come to me.

What message do you want readers to remember? The key to health and happiness is love, compassion and unconditional acceptance of yourself.
